Rejection of vote trading, the minority community are attacked

According to the victims, Sumon Kumar Dey, who was attacked in today’s (April25, 2021) incident in Islamabad Union in the upcoming Union Parishad elections, is a member candidate and accused Saiful Islam is also a two-time elected member, he is also a candidate in this election. He was trying to deal votes to the local Hindu community for Tk 1,000 through a broker named Sukhlal in the area.
After knowing about this incident, member candidate Sumon Kumar Dey was holding a meeting with Sukhlal along with some dignitaries from the society on the issue, and requested Sukhlal to refrain from the illegal game of vote-buying.
Upon hearing the news of the meeting, the Saiful member came to the Hindu Para with his men and the cadre forces who were with Saiful Islam attacked the people of the Hindu community including the candidate Sumon Kumar Dey and carried out infernal violence. More than 25 people of Hindu community were injured in this incident.
We are expressing strong condemnation and demanding exemplary punishment.
